Software Engineer

We are looking for an experienced backend software engineer to join the Spark Insights engineering team. The engineering team here is focused on building backend data management infrastructure to support Spark Insights SaaS product on cloud for providing services in insurance industries. The tools and technologies we use here include Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, RabbitMQ, AWS services (EC2, S3, etc.), Git, Scrum/Kanban.

Spark Insights is an early stage stealth mode company based in Boston on a mission to develop a broad range of solutions for the insurance industry using big data, advanced modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities:

As a key role in Spark Insights engineering team, you will:

  • Drive architecture discussions to complete our micro services architecture design.
  • Research new libraries and components to prepare for implementation.
  • Research data storage solutions based on AWS
  • Produce code to build out backend data management infrastructure.
  • Work closely with Data Science team to deliver performant models at scale
  • Mentor, learn, and share knowledge with team members along the way.

Qualifications:

  • BS or higher in a technology related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)
  • 3+ years of Python programming experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in Linux environments
  • Experience with RESTful API
  • Experience in building microservices
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools and frameworks like Jenkins, etc.
  • Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills

You must be authorized to work in the US.
